GERTRUDE E. HARTSOCK

Gertrude E. Hartsock, 73, of rural Iowa City, died Friday evening, Oct. 23 at Mercy Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at the George L. Gay Funeral Home, with burial in Oakland Cemetery in Iowa City.

A memorial fund has been established to the Pleasant View Home in Kalona.

Mrs. Hartsock, a former Bonaparte resident, was born on Nov. 19, 1907, at Springfield, Ill. to William and Elizabeth Murray Bell. She married George E. Hartsock on Feb. 8, 1932 in Moline, Ill.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons, George J. of Shannon, Calif.; William E. of Douglas, Alaska; Howard, Iowa City; James D., of Wellman, Ia.; one daughter, (Mary Jane), Mrs. Donald Gringer of Iowa City; ten grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Miller and Marie Bell of Bonaparte; four brothers, William Bell, Cleveland, Ohio; Robert, Bonaparte; James, Farmington and John of Stockton, Calif. She was preceded in death by one daughter.
