DALE E. COLEMAN

Dale E. Coleman, son of Bryan J. and Bertha Woodruff Coleman, was born September 21, 1930 in Harrisburg Township, Van Buren County, and departed this life Friday, February 20, 1981, at Burlington Medical Center in Burlington at the age of 50.

He spent his life farming in Harrisburg Township and was a Career Underwriter for Farm Bureau Life Insurance Co.

On September 13, 1950 he married Marjorie McCarty in Keosauqua. She remains to cherish his memory with their three sons, Michael of Farmington, Randall of Hillsboro, and Wesley of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; their two daughters, Diana Edwards of Anchorage, Alaska and Karen Van Meter of Mt. Pleasant, and Dale's parents of Hillsboro.

Also surviving are five grandchildren, Wyatt, Amber, Damey and Darcey Coleman and Jacob Edwards; two brothers, John of Danville and Chester of New London; four sisters, Reba Judd, Wasco, California; Iris Barton, Brownsburg, Indiana; Wanda McDowell, Ft. Madison; and Ruth Johnson, Hillsboro, other relatives and many friends.

Dale was a Deacon in the Harrisburg Baptist Church and a member of the Van Buren County Farm Bureau.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a good citizen and friend.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 23, 1981, at 3 p.m. at Harrisburg Baptist Church with Rev. Dallas Roark and Rev. Robert Buchanan officiating. Mrs. William Carter was the organist. Honorary pallbearers were Dewey Phelps, T.M. Phelps, Kenneth Mosher, Walter Dannenhauer, Everett Parker, and Virgil Gordon. Active bearers were Gilbert and Dean Stecker, William Carter, Phil Elliott, Robert Brombaugh, and James McLeland. Interment was in Vale Cemetery. A memorial was established for his church. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
