VIOLA M. GARES

Viola Mae Gares, 89, of Farmington, died Monday, April 6, 1981, at 7:06 a.m. in Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua.

The former Viola M. Coffin, she was born April 20, 1891 at Fort Madison, the daughter of Charles and Cintha Sullivan Coffin.

She married Harry Joe Gares on November 8, 1911 at Clark County Mo. He preceded her in death.

A Farmington resident for 35 years, she was a member of the United Methodist Church, Farmington, and the United Methodist Women.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Lester (Lois) Poole, Albia; four grandchildren, Ronald McIntosh, Mrs. Charles (Donna) Hamberg, both of Farmington, Mrs. John (Patty) Judge of Albia, and Stephen Poole, of Minneapolis, Minn.; 8 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

Perceding(err) her in death were her parents, husband, one daughter, one brother and two sisters.

The funeral was held on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the United Methodist Church in Farmington. The Rev. Jim Rozendaal officiated. Burial was in Christy cemetery. The Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington was in charge of arrangements. A memorial was established for the Christy cemetery.
