LAMONTE ASKEW

LaMonte Askew age 68 retired Stockport farmer passed away Wednesday, evening March 25th at his home southeast of Stockport.

He was born near Stockport April 21, 1912 the son of George and Myrtle Smith Askew. Married October 23, 1937 at Davenport to Thelme McHarn who survives as well as 2 sons Gary Askew of Stockport and Dennis Askew of Fairfield RR a daughter Mrs. Karen Kisling of Keosauqua RR and 8 grandchildren.

Also surviving a brother William Askew of Hillsboro RR and 3 sisters Mrs. Marjory McHarn and Mrs. Genevive Thompson both of Stockport and Mrs. Winifred Trunzo of Beline, New Jersey.

Mr. Askew was a member of the Stockport United Methodist Church and served on the Van Buren County Board of Supervisor from 1965 thru 1968.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, March 28, 1981 at the Stockport United Methodist Church with Rev. David R. Kennedy officitary. Interment was in Spencer Cemetery near Stockport.

Memorials to the Stockport United Methodist Church may be left at the Burch Funeral Home in Birmingham.
