ROBERT J. SMITH

Services were held at 3 p.m. at the Hofbauer Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 16 for Robert John Smith, 50, of Casselberry, Fla.

Mr. Smith died June 9 in Miami, Fla.

He was born Feb. 1, 1931, at Farmington, Ia. to Merle and Mabel Hite Smith. He was active in many school activities, an avid reader and was class president. He attended Olivet Nazarene College, Kanakee, Ill. and Georgia Tech, Atlanta, Ga. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the Air Force.

He was a self-employed farmer until he moved to Florida. He was a licensed race horse trainer and a member of the U.S.I.A. of Columbus, Ohio.

He was of the Nazarene faith.

He married Mildred Bush, Dec. 24, 1975.

Surviving: His wife, parents, daughter, four step children, seven grandchildren; sisters: Erma Palmer, Farmington and Charlotte Muntz and Janet Kay Benedict of Burlington and one brother Arden Smith of Farmington, many nieces and nephews.

Military services were held at Baldwin-Fairchild Chapel, Altamont Springs, Fla. at 7:30 p.m. June 14 conducted by V.F.W. Chaplain Mews.

Services in Farmington were conducted by Rev. C. Dean Grant and Robert Hambright. Military representatives in Farmington were Robert Satterly and Gilbert Hancock.

Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery, Hamilton, Ill. on June 16.
