Obituaries
BRUCE HOFFMAN

Bruce Hoffman, 74, of 1203 South Sixth Street, Fairfield, died about 9:50 a.m. October 11 in the Mercy Hospital, Iowa City. He had been in failing health the past two months.

He was born June 26, 1907, in Birmingham, to Frank and Dollie Schwartz Hoffman. He married Helen Scovel Aug. 27, 1954, at Fairfield. A resident of Jefferson and Van Buren counties, he was a graduate of Birmingham High School, served in the Army in World War II and was a member of the Eagles Club and First United Methodist Church.

A retired farmer and carpenter, he was a great-grandson of George Donner, leader of the ill fated pioneer party for which the Donner Pass in California is named.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Robert of Fairfield; and sisrters, Blanche Hoffman of Perry, Nellie Meacham of Richland and Wilda Downey of Fairfield.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 1981 at Behner Funeral HOme with Rec. Cair Odel officiating.

Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
