HERBERT B. DOUD

Herbert B. Doud, son of Owen and Inez Duffield Doud, was born July 29, 1910, near Keosauqua and departed this life Sunday, December 21, 1980 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 70.

He lived a number of years in Galesburg, Illinois and in western states and returned to Van Buren County ten years ago, residing the past several years near Mt. Sterling.

He was an auctioneer, a veteran of World War II, and an avid hunter and outdoorsman.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his widow, Marilyn, a son, Steven of Ft. Knox, Kentucky, a daughter, Cheri Naugle of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, three stepsons, Donald Daugherty, Birmingham, Clifford Daugherty, Truro, and Teddy Daugherty, Mt. Sterling, a foster daughter, Penny Feagin, Clute Texas and 12 grandchildren. Also surviving are his mother of Keosauqua, a sister, Margaret Davis and two brothers, Carl and Ralph all of Keosauqua, another brother, Kenneth of Moravia, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 26, 1980, at 1:30 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with Rev. Edward Kail officiating. Pallbearers were Dennis, Richard, Douglas, Angelo, and Tony Doud and Barney Murphy. Interment was in Pittsburg Cemetery.
