EDWIN WALKER

Edwin Walker, son of Edward and Katherine Madden Walker, was born May 27, 1911 near Stockport, and departed this life Tuesday, September 1, 1981 at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 70.

On May 15, 1930 he married Grace Daniels in Ottumwa. They farmed in Van Buren County and retired to Keosauqua in 1973. Since that time he worked at Van Buren County Care Facility as farm supervisor and devoted much of his personal time to working with and entertaining the residents there.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Fairfield and the Keosauqua Lions Club.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, Grace, a daughter Kay Roush and her husband Robert of Keosauqua; a son Glen and his wife Pat of Atchison, Kansas, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Margaret Regur of Keosauqua and Myrtle Rehkopf of Ottumwa.

Two brothers, Melvin and Merlin, preceded him in death.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a good neighbor and friend.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 4, 1981 at 10:30 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with Rev. Louise Knupp officiating. Pallbearers were Doug Roush, Ted Daugherty, Craig Deming, R.L. Smith, Reed Hammans, Donald Campbell, Wayne Boyer and Lester Metheson. Interment was in Pittsburg Cemetery. A memorial was established for the Cancer Fund.
