WILL POLING

Will Poling, son of Trustam J. and Mary Seitz Poling, was born March 19, 1897, near Douds and departed this life Sunday April 19, 1981, at Veterans' Hospital, in Iowa City at the age of 84.

On June 14, 1919, he married Mayme Cook at Keosauqua. They lived near Douds in Pittsburg for many years, and the past eighteen years in Cantril. Remaining to cherish his memory are his widow, two sons, William "Bub" of Hawthorne, Woods, Illinois and John "Frankie" of Fairfield, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. A daughter, Louise Cole, and two sisters preceded him in death.

He was retired farmer and a World War I Army veteran, and will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a good neighbor and friend.

Funeral services were held Wednesday April 22, 1981, at 11 a.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with Rev. Gerald Caughron officiating. Pallbearers were Carl Hohl, Roscoe Hughes, Joe Creath, Bennie Powell, Roy Tedrow, and Wesley Pierce. Interment was in Pittsburg Cemetery. Memorials were established for the Pittsburg Cemetery and the Cancer Fund.
