Birdie Smith rites Sunday

Services for Birdie E. Smith, 84, 810 S. Fourth St., who died Wednesday evening at Washington County Hospital in Washington, will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Lee Gamblin officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery. Family visitation has been established to her church.

Mrs. Smith was born April 1, 1903 in Lee County near Farmington, the daughter of John and Maggie Roberson Bargar. She married Harold Lee Smith Aug. 25, 1925 in the home of her parents. She lived most of her life in the Fairfield community and before that in Lee County. A retired school teacher, she had taught in the Lee County and Jefferson County school districts. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Margaret Harryman of Seal Beach, Calif., Judy Herr of Keota; three sons, Lee of Beaver Creek, Ohio, Gary of Alexandria, Va., Dale of Naperville, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a sister, Maude Adkisson of Donnellson. A daughter and a brother preceded her in death.
