RUSSELL M. WILSON

Russell M. Wilson, son of Ora C. and Mary Martha McGlothlen Wilson, was born November 2, 1914 on the family farm south of Milton and departed this life the evening of Wednesday, Dec. 2, 1992 at Davis County Hospital, Bloomfield at the age of 78. He married Lorretta Katherine Hogan Nov. 2, 1935 at Longmont, Colorado. She (fied) January 11, 1991.

He lived most of his life in the Milton community and had been a farmer and school bus driver.

Russell served in the Headquarter Company, 157th Infantry, U.S. Army for three years, with two years served in the European Theater of Operations during World War II.

He was a member of the Christian Church in Milton and had participated in many musical activities in the church. He was active in Masonic work, having served as Worshipful Master of Aurora Lodge No. 50 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons in Milton, and (haf) been a member of Carr Chapter, Order of Eastern Star in Milton. He was presently a member of Celestial Lodge No. 413, A.F. & A.M. and Twin City Chapter No. 258, O.E.S. both of Douds.

He was a member of Russell-Strait Post No. 483, American Legion, Milton, and had served his post as Command and Adjutant.

Remaining to cherish his memory are a son, Monte L. Wilson and his wife, Elaine of Bloomfield and a daughter, Donna Kay Ellis and her husband, Larry of Ottumwa. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Michael, Kevin, Matthew, Thomas, Karen and Teresa Ellis, all of Ottumwa, Stuart Wayne Wilson of Des Moines and Eric Eugene Wilson of Bloomfield, a great granddaughter, Chastity Lynn Ellis, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and infant son, Bruce and a brother, J.C.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 1992 in the Milton Christian Church, with Ed Pool, Minister, officiating, followed by a Masonic service by Celestial Lodge and Windle Riley. Military rites by Rev. Lester Terlouw, Department Chaplain of the Department of Iowa, American Legion and Russell Strait Post, Milton, preceded interment in the Lebanon Cemetery west of Keosauqua.

A memorial was established for the Lebanon Cemetery.
