Velma Wilson

Velma Wilson, daughter of William and Lucy Pointer Carpenter, was born Feb. 27, 1909, at Nevada, Mo., and died Monday, Feb. 28, 1983 at University Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 74.

On Sept. 29, 1927, she married Charles Younker in Bloomfield. They lived in Milton. Mr. Younker died in 1969. Two brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.

On Nov. 11, 1970 she married LaRue Wilson and they made their home in Cantril. Remaining are her husband, a son, James Younker and his wife, Miriam, of Florissant, Mo., two step-daughters, Bernita Epperly of Milton and Kathleen Geith of Ottumwa, three grandchildren, Timothy, Kip, and Scott Younker, other relatives and friends.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary. For a number of years she was a Sunday School Teacher in the Milton United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 2, 1983 at 2 p.m. in the Cantril Methodist church, with Rev. Charles Butler officiating. Interment was in the Sunnyside Cemetery at Milton. A memorial was established for the Cantril United Methodist Church. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
