Rites set at Milton

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Milton Christian Church for Mrs. Martha Hill Wellborn, 56, who died Wednesday at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.

The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. James McKean and the Rev. Herbert Phillips. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service.

The body will be at the Priester Funeral Chapel until 11 a.m. Friday when it will be taken to the Wellborn Funeral Home in Milton.

She was born Sept. 3, 1914 to Elssworth and Bertha Miller Hill. On May 9, 1937 she married W.W. Wellborn Jr.

She was a graduate of Bloomfield High School and taught in rural schools of southeast Davis County. She and her husband operated the Wellborn Funeral Home in Milton.

She served as a former president of the Van Buren County Federated Women's Club, former president of Milton Federated Women's Club, former president of PEO Chapter AD at Milton, former Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, board member of Rainbow for girls of Pulaski, member of the American Legion Auxiliary at Milton and chairman of many committees of the CWF of the Milton Christian Church as well as serving on the official board.

Survivors include her widower; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Joyce Lunsford of Fremont, and Miss Ramona Catherine Wellborn, a student at Drake University in Des Moines; two grandsons; two brothers, Herbert Hill of Eldon; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Ashmead of Bloomfield, Mrs. Henrietta Ensminger of Troy, and Mrs. Dorothy Hutchings of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Franklin Hill.

Memorials to church or organization of donors choice are preferred.
