RAYMOND THOMAS

Raymond (Ray) Thomas, 66, of 402 North Weller street, died at the Ottumwa hospital at 2:15 a.m. Thursday.

Born in Henry county at Mediapolis, November 4, 1881, he was the son of S. Thomas and Alice M. Thomas. He had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past 25 years and an employe of John Morrell & Co. for the past 13 years.

He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge No. 9 and a past noble grand of that order, and a member of encampment No. 22, of which he was a past chief patriarch. He was also a member of the Mystic Workers of the World.

Mr. Thomas was married to Mary E. Cooley, January 28, 1905, at Milton, who survives him.

Also surviving are two brothers, Walter C. Thomas, Ottumwa, and A.H. Thomas, Wickenburg, Ark., a sister, Edna Thomas Gordon, Chicago Heights, Ill., and seven nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, Raymond, in 1937, his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. Donald H. Gill of the First Christian church. Burial will be made in Ottumwa cemetery.
