Leslie L. Smith

Leslie L. Smith, 84, 169 N. Davis, Ottumwa was dead on arrival at 10:55 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Hospital.

He was born May 4, 1892 at Milton to Jasper and Amanda Renbarger Smith. He had operated a service station in Pulaski until 14 years ago when he moved to Ottumwa. He was presently employed by the Wareco Station in Ottumwa.

On April 17, 1916 he married Vera Mae Hamilton. She preceded him in death on Oct. 9, 1956.

Survivors include two granddaughters, reared in his home from infancy, Mrs. Dorothy M. DeLano and Mrs. Virginia Sutton, both of Ottumwa; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one brother, Neal Smith of Davenport; and one niece and one nephew, also reared in his home, Dallas Smith of Des Moines and Mrs. Zella Losh of Des Moines.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by one son and one daughter; 11 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held today at the Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, conducted by the Rev. Paul C. Hart. Burial was in the Pulaski Cemetery.

A memorial has been established payable to the cancer fund. Contributions may be mailed to Mrs. Florence DeBuhr, 3 Carter Court Lane, Ottumwa 52501.
