Charles Earl Barnes was born at New Hope, Mo.Sept. 25 1895 and departed this life April 17 1936 at the age of 40 years, 6 months and 22 days of pneumonia at Milton, Iowa. He was married to Miss Velma Downing March 6 1929. To this union two children were born, Lucille, aged 6 and Billy, aged 4. He leaves to mourn his loss besides a wife and two children, a father and mother of Queen City, Mo.:one brother, Hollie Barnes of Detroit, Mich; three sisters, Mrs. Edna Spence of Chicago, Ill, Mrs. Grace Harding of Battle Creek, Mich; and Mrs. Florence Kennedy of Hitt, Mo. A short service was held at his home in Milton. A funeral service was held at the Richland cemetery at Hitt, Mo. conducted by Rev. Dan Newland Sunday at 2 pm. Charley was a kind and loving father, always willing to sacrifice for his wife and children. He was a big-hearted neighbor, always friendly and cheerful. He professed Christ before he went away and said he was forgiven of his sins and ready to go. The friends about Milton join in sympathy and sorrow with the wife and loved ones left behind.
