Ray Mote

Albert Raymond "Ray" Mote, son of Arthur and Ada Campbell Mote, was born May 4, 1920 near Chariton, Iowa and departed this life the evening of Thursday, Dec. 12, 1985 at Ottumwa Regional Health Care Center in Ottumwa at the age of 65. He had been transferred to Ottumwa from Van Buren County Memorial Hospital Dec. 11, where he had been since suffering a heart attack Nov. 29.

Ray grew up in the Ottumwa area. On January 1, 1941 he married Audrey Hargrove at her parents' home near Milton. Most of their married life has been spent farming near Keosauqua.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife, a daughter, Darlene Doluglas(err) and her husband, Earl, of Cantril and a son, Rex and his wife, Valerie, of Keosauqua. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Susan North, Bruce, Jodi, and David Douglas and Jacklyn Mote; a great-granddaughter, Angela North, an aunt, Margaret Sterling, Ottumwa, other relatives and friends, including Cheryl Hartfield and family in Texas.

Services were held Monday, Dec. 6, 1985 at 10 A.M. in the Keosauqua Methodist Church with Rec. Don Morrison officiating. Interment was in Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton. a memorial ... established for Ke... United Methodist Church and contributions may be left at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
