H. Ferne Miller

H. Ferne Miller, 69, of Milton died at 1:50 a.m. July 14, 1986, at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.

She was born Dec. 17, 1917, near Eldon to Guy and Mabel Hodson Acton. A resident of the Eldon and Milton communities most of her life, she was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Federated Club, the Top Hat Club and the Help Your Neighbor Club, all in Milton. She married Franklin P. Miller on January 15, 1942, in Memphis, Mo.

She is survived by four sisters, Florence Talbott of Birmingham, Irene L. Spilman of Selma, Mickey DeBurn of Ottumwa and Barbara Jean Dains of Burlington; and a brother, Jim Acton of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984 and a daughter, Judy, in 1951.

The service was held Wednesday at Campbell Funeral Home in Eldon, the Rev. Harold Harryman officiating. Burial was in Eldon Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to her church.
