Verna Kessel

Verna Kessel, 66, of 230 S. Johnson, Memphis, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 1984, at the Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, Illinois.

Mrs. Kessel retired three years ago after 42 years of nursing, which included serving as Director of Nursing at Scotland County Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Memphis Business & Professional Women as well as the Missouri Nurses Association.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John (Georgia) Gradek of Hammond, Indiana, and Mrs. William (Virginia) Brown of El Paso, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Carlton (Jeanette) Ebert of Milton, Iowa; two brothers, Robert Childress and wife, Vera, of Lowell, Indiana, and Dean Childress and wife, Sandy, of Memphis, Mo.; eight grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services were held privately in Indiana.
