Homer G. Holt

Homer G. Holt, 83, 2327 Avenue C., Fort Madison, Iowa, a former Milton resident, died Sept. 19, 1984 at the fort Madison Community Hospital. He had been in failing health several months and seriously ill two weeks.

Mr. Holt was born Oct. 21, 1900, near Marceline, Mo., and on Nov. 24, 1921, he married Villa Groves, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Buford Holt, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Raymond Holt, rural Donnellson, a daughter Mrs. William (Juanita) Cullen of Fort Madison, 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews including Marion (Red) Roberts of Milton.

Mr. Holt came to Fort Madison in 1919 and spent most of his life there, but from 1931 until 1937 the family lived on a farm south of the old Milton fairgrounds. He retired from the DuPont Company in 1965 after 28 years of service. In Fort Madison, he was a member of the Christian Church, Claypoole Lodge No. 13 A.F. & A.M. and was a life member of the International Association of Machinists.

Burial was in Hill Cress Memorial Park and a memorial was established with the First Christian Church in Fort Madison.
