Hollis J.N. Garrett

Hollis J.N. Garrett, son of N.C. and Harriett Burns Garrett, was born July 30, 1906, in Van Buren County, Iowa, and passed away October 26, 1977, in the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, Missouri. He was 71 years of age.

He married Susue L. McVey in 1930 and to this union one son was born.

July 14, 1956, he married Arrietta M. Grear and she survives. Also surviving are one son, George E. Garrett and wife of Ottumwa, Iowa; one granddaughter, Leslie Laumeyer of Lockridge, Iowa; one grandson, Steven G. Garretet of Ottumwa, Iowa; one step-son, Carl W. House and wife two step granddaughters, of Clinton, Iowa; one sister, Mrs. Sadie Nelson of Milton, Iowa, and one brother, Arthur Garrett of Stiles, Iowa; several nieces and nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and one brother.

He was a member of the Bible Grove Christian Church.

He worked on construction and at John Morrell in Ottumwa, Iowa, and farmed.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 29, 1977, in the Gerth & Baskett Funeral Chapel, Memphis, Missouri. Burial was in teh Bible Grove Cemetery, Bible Grove, Missouri. The Rev. Robert Scoffield officiated. Body bearers were nephews.
