Mrs. Sandra Ann Ellis, formerly of Charlotte, Iowa, died Thursday, November 5, 2020, at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua.

She was born December 17, 1949, in Adrian, Michigan, to the late Floyd and Delores (Miller) Rohn. Sandra grew up in Michigan and graduated from Ferris State College. Sandra married Terrance K. Ellis, Sr. July 5, 1969, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Blissfield Township, Michigan. She was a homemaker much of her life and when her husband graduated from Concordia Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana, they began serving congregations of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The Rev. Terry and Sandra Ellis served Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fairfield and Our Savior Lutheran Church Keosauqua until 1989 and Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte until he preceded her in death October 20, 2011.

Most recently, Sandra was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lowden. She enjoyed scrapbooking, puzzles, and word searches. Most of all, Sandra loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her children, Bonnie McCarty and her husband, Les of Fairfield and Terrance K. Ellis, Jr. and his wife, Michelle of Alexander; grandchildren, Joshua McCarty, Matthew Ellis, Pauline Ellis, Christian Ellis and Allie Ann Ellis; a daughter-in-law, Jenny Smith; sisters, Emily Walworth and her husband, Wayne, Linda Weiland-Hernandez Hurd and her husband, Dean and Ilo Wilson and her husband, Roy; numerous nieces and nephews and an honorary daughter, Cathy Giberson.

Also preceding Sandra in death were her son, Christopher Ellis; step-father, Noel Weiland; brother, Noel “Butch” Weiland and sister, Gertrude Olson and her husband, Joe.

Further arrangements will be announced in the Spring of 2021. Interment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery.
