John Fryrear

John William Fryrear, son of James J. Fryrear and Florence Long Fryrear, was born May 23, 1893 and departed this life at the Bloomfield Manor, Bloomfield, Iowa, on October 28, 1974. He spent most of his life, with the exception of a few years on the home place two miles West of Hitt.

On August 30, 1911, John was united in marriage to Edith Jane Morris. To this union was born three children, Raymond Earl, Ina Irene, and Harry Franklin. He was preceded in death by his wife Edith, March 9, 1958, son Raymond Earl, August 26, 1969, and a daughter, Ina Irene, November 9, 1969, a son-in-law, Lee Howe, January 22, 1970, also his parents.

On March 15, 1959, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Mary A. Phillips Ruggles at Brashear by Rev. Clyde Sparks. On November 6, 1973, they moved to Downing because of ill health.

he leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mary; on, Harry, and wife, Esther, Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter-in-law, Irene Fryrear, Plattsburg, Missouri; two step-daughters, Mrs. Helen A. Newland and husband, Eugene, Downing, Missouri, Mrs. Doris Riley and husband, Floyd Riley, Jr., Cantril, Iowa; grandchildren are Mrs. Margaret Wenieke, Mrs. Mary Jo Crabtree, Max and Jim Fryrear, Linda Lou Brinkman, Robert Howe, John, Jerry, and Danny Fryrear, and Bonnie Combs, several great-grandchildson and seven step grandchildren and a host of friends.

He was a member of the Barker United Methodist Church, the Middle Fabius Masonic Lodge No. 244 and Past Master of Downing, Missouri, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star no. 233 at Downing and served as Worthy Patron many years.

Funeral services were conducted by D.W. Payne & Sons from the Barker United Methodist Church, Wednesday, October 30, 1974, at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. Lowell Newland officiating. Soloist was Charlotte Mathews, and pianist was Leota Moore. Pallbearers were Hobert Gooden, Kinney Cossel, Cecil Cossel, Eugene Newland, Ray Kinney, and Paul Houghland. Interment was in the Barker Cemetery.
