Robert N. Drake

Robert N. Drake of Greeley, died Tuesday, September 18, 1984, at his home.

he was born March 10, 1930, to Neil and Josephine (McLeland) Drake at Memphis, Missouri.

On June 27, 1948, he married Frances Hamberg at Keosauqua, Iowa.

Mr. Drake grew up on a farm in the Memphis area and moved to Cantril, Iowa, at an early age. He served as a paratrooper during the occupation of Japan in World War II. He and his wife moved to Greeley in 1952. He was employed by Shupe Brothers Trucking for seventeen years. He had been the manager of the Greeley Moose Lodge for four years at the time of his death.

He was a member of Greeley Lodge No. 909 Loyal Order of the Moose; Garden City, Kansas, Moose Lodge; had been a past commander of the American Legion Post at Garden City; and was a member of the Post 2121 VFW. He was a past governor and held the Pilgrim Degree in the Loyal Order of the Moose.

Survivors are his wife, Frances of Greeley; a daughter, Mrs. Peggy Beining of Washington, D.C.; three sons, Kent of Garden City, Kansas, Norris of Greeley and Kerry of Loathe, Kansas; a sister, Mrs. Elloise Raftis of Redondo beach, California; two brothers, Wayne of Downey, California and Bill of Fairfield, Iowa; He is also survived by six grandchildren.

Relatives in this area are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hamberg of Cantril and Mrs. Mary Drake of Memphis.
