IRA J. DORSEY

Ira J. Dorsey, son of Joseph E. and Florence White Dorsey, was born December 27, 1900, in Clark County, Mo., and departed this life Tuesday, July 3, 1979, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 78.

He grew up near Gorin in Scotland County, Mo., and on October 10, 1925, married Lulu Fisher at Gorin.

They lived in Detroit, Mich. and a number of years in Moline, Ill., where Mr. Dorsey was employed by John Deere and Co. They retired to Cantril in 1966. He entered Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua in October 1977 and Mrs. Dorsey moved to Country Lane Apartments in Keosauqua in November 1978.

Remaining to cherish his memory are Mrs. Dorsey, their son Max and daughter-in-law, Dorothy, and two granddaughters, Renea Lynn and Rhonda Lea of Moline, Ill. Also surviving are two sisters, Carmelita Laverty and Cordonna Cunningham, both of Memphis, Mo.; three brothers, Lealand of Memphis, Robert of Rochester, and Ivan Merton of Fort Madison, other relatives and friends. Two infant sons, Donald and Glen, and three brothers, Raymond, Rollie, and Orville preceded him in death.

He was a member of the Bloomfield Open Bible Church and attended the Memphis Full Gospel Church.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 5, 1979, at 2 P.M. in the Cantril Christian Church, with the Cantril Christian Church, with the Rev. Gerald Caughron, pastor, officiating. Interment was in maple Grove Cemetery at Cantril. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua.
