Evelyn Cone

Evelyn Cone, 74, daughter of Lewis and Sophia Boyles Fender, was born January 5, 1908, in Mercer County, Illinois and she passed away December 16, 1982, in Rochester, Minnesota.

She was united in marriage to Robert Harley in 1932 and he preceded her in death in November 1934. In 1937, she married Lewis Cone. He preceded her in death April 9, 1955.

She is survived by one son, Lewis J. Cone of Yorktown, Iowa; two grandchildren; two brothers, Everett Fender of Memphis, Missouri, and Chester Fender of California; one nephew, Tom Fender of Memphis, Missouri.

Evelyn spent most of her life in Scotland County except two years she lived North of Milton, Iowa and three years she worked in Fort Madison, Iowa.

She was a member of the Christian Church.

Funeral services were Saturday, December 18, 1982, at 1 p.m. conducted by the Payne-Gerth Funeral Home from their Memphis Chapel. Rev. Kenneth Campbell officiated. Burial was in the Memphis Cemetery. Organist was Ann Luther and Guy Gardine was soloist. Body bearers were Alan Van Gorkom, Marion Cowell, Jim Morris, Lee Aylward, Phil Cone and Phil Aylward.
