FRED BROMBAUGH

Fred Brombaugh, 73 years of age, passed away at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Sunday, August 8, 1971 at 2:05 P.M. He had been transferred from the University Hospital at Iowa City where he had undergone extensive surgery.

Fred was born October 29, 1897, at Salem, Iowa, the son of Britt and Susan Cavniness Brombaugh.

On December 24, 1919, he was united in marriage to Lillie Huff who preceded him in death on October 2, 1966. An infant son, Richard, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Brombaugh and his wife spent most of their married lives in Van Buren County except for four years when they lived in Lee County.

Fred was a member of Aurora Lodge A.F. & A.M. Number 50, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Stars, Carr Chapter Number 10 of Milton, Iowa. He was also a member of Milton United Methodist Church.

He is survived by two sons: Robert of Stockport, Iowa and Charles of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two brothers, George of Jentry, Arkansas and Glenn of Farmington, Iowa. Two sisters: Mrs. Muriel Wallingford of Bonaparte, Iowa and Mrs. Grace Elmore of Fairfield, Iowa as well as other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 10, 1971 at Grace United Methodist Church at Milton, Iowa. Rev. Dale Church officiated at the service under the direction of Wellborn Funeral Home of Milton, Iowa.
