Laura Black

Laura W. Black, 95, of 222 N. McLean, died at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 11, 1986, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

She was born April 13, 1891, in Salem to Henry and Nellie Garretson Hummell. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign War auxiliary. She married Harry Black Feb. 9, 1920, in Mount Pleasant. He died March 6, 1962.

She is survived by two sons, Harry of Des Moines, and Robert of Ottumwa; two daughters, Ruth Keller of Cantril and Nellie McCallister of Elvaston, Ill.; 17 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter and two sons.

The service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Robertson-Jay Funeral Home, the Rev. Dale Grey officiating.

Burial will be Shaul Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the Salvation Army.

Visitation will be open 11 a.m.
