Catharine ASKREN LAYLE born 11/20/1829 in Kentucky, died 1/29/1905 at home, daughter, Mrs. Henry GRUBBS at Leando, IA. Married to Jas A. LAYLE Mar 4, 1849. 5 children; 4 boys, 4 girls. Three boys and two girls with the husband preceeded [sic] her. She was 75 years – 2 months – 9 days. Left to morn [sic] her one son, Henry Layle, 2 daughts [sic], Mrs. S. N. ASKREN and Mrs. Henry GRUBBS – 15 grand and 4 great grandchildren.
