Mrs. Kirk Perkins

Last rites for Mrs. Bertha Perkins, 81, of Keokuk, formerly of Bonaparte, were held Monday, May 31, at 2 p.m. in the Bonaparte Methodist church. The Rev. Edward Maus officiated. Burial was in the Bonaparte cemetery. The Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington, was in charge.

Mrs. Perkins died Saturday, May 22, at 12:05 a.m. in the Hocker Nursing Home, Keokuk. Death terminated a lengthy illness.

The former Bertha Burrows, she was born Sept. 22, 1889 in Colorado, the daughter of John and Mary Powers Burrows. She spent her childhood at Milton.

Her marriage to Kirk Perkins of Bonaparte took place in December of 1908 at Milton. He preceded her in death.

She moved to Keokuk from Bonaparte in 1955. Mrs. Perkins was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving are: one son, Robert L. Perkins of Irving, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Beryl Toland of Plymouth, Ill. and Mrs. Dorothy Hassler of Klamath Falls, Oregon; one brother, Joe Burrows of Memphis, Mo.; one sister, Alma (Polly) Pierce of California; several nieces and nephews, and seven grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters in infancy.
