Henry B. Geers

The Rev. Henry B. Geers, 62, of St. Mary's Catholic church, Williamsburg, Iowa, did unexpectedly Saturday, June 5, at St. Mary's rectory, Williamsburg.

He was born Feb. 5, 1909 in West Point, the son of the late Barney Geers and Margaret Huchtons Geers. He was a graduate of St. Ambrose college, Davenport in 1932; and graduated from St. Paul Siminary in Minnesota in 1936. He was ordained to preisthood on April 26, 1936 by the late Bishop Rohlman at Sacred heart Cathedral, Davenport.

He served as assistant priest at St. Boniface Church, Farmington; St. Mary's Church, Centerville; St. Boniface church, Fort Madison; and St. Mary's church, Keokuk.

He served as pastor of St. Mary's church, Weller; St. Joseph church, East Pleasant Plaine, where he built a new church; St. Bridget church, Victor; and St. Mary's church, Williamsburg.

Surviving are a sister, Miss Rosanna Geers, West Point; one siser-in-law, Mrs. Julette Geers, West Point; and an uncle, Joseph Huchtons of Pilot Grove.

He was preceded in death by one brother and twin sisters.

The funeral service will be Thursday, June 10, at 11 a.m., in St. Mary's Catholic Church, West Point. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, West Point. The Rev. Francis Lenoch will officiate.

The body will be taken to St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at which time the parish Rosary will be read.

A service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Williamsburg on Wednesday at 11 a.m. when the Funeral Mass will be held.
