Mrs. Hazel Carter

Mrs. Hazel Carter, 52, LaPorte City, Ia., died at 6 a.m. Thursday, May 6, at Waterloo.

She was born Dec. 29, 1918, in Lee county, the daughter of Harry and Vera Gahle Stein. She married Perl Carter of Bentonsport Oct. 14, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo.

Surviving: The husband; four daughters, Carolyn of Long Beach, Calif., Lila, Judith, and Vera, all at home; her mother, of Ft. Madison; six brothers, Bernard and Thomas Stein, both of rural Ft. Madison, Wilbur, Ft. Madison, Theodore, Streeter, Ill., Chester, Lomax, Ill., and Herbert, of Denmark, Ia.; one sister, Mrs. Bernice Vonarx, Niota, Ill., and three grandchildren.

The funeral service was held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Brant-Clements Chapel, Ft. Madison. Rev. Frederick A. Moore officiated. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park cemetery.
