Mrs. W.W. Wellborn

Mrs. Martha Hill Wellborn, 56, wife of W.W. Wellborn, Jr., died Wednesday, April 21 at 3:40 p.m. at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, following a lengthy illness.

She assisted her husband in the operation of Wellborn Funeral Home in Milton.

She was the daughter of Ellsworth and Bertha Miller Hill, born Sept. 3, 1914. On May 9, 1937, she married Mr. Wellborn, who survives, as well as two daughters, Mrs. Jerry Lunsford of Fremont and Ramona Wellborn, a student at Drake University; and two grandsons.

Other survivors are two brothers, Herbert Hill of Bloomfield, and Harlan Hill of Eldon; three sisters, Mrs. Fred Ashmead of Bloomfield, Mrs. Clyde Ensminger of Troy and Mrs. Robert Hutchings of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her mother on April 21, 1970, and by a brother, Franklin.

Active in church and community afairs, Mrs. Wellborn was past president of the Van Buren County Federated Women's Club, the Milton Federated Club and Chapter AD, P.E.O., and was worthy matron of Carr Chapter 10 of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the boards of the Rainbow for Girls at Pulaski, and the Milton Christian Church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary at Milton, and served as chairman of many committees of the Christian Women's Fellowship.

The funeral service was held Saturday, April 24 at 2 p.m. at Milton Christian Church, conducted by the Rev. James McKean and the Rev. Herbert Phillips. Burial was in Sunnyside Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice of church or organizaiton.
