Edith I. Edgerly

Mrs. Edith Isabel Edgerly, daughter of James and Bessie Oliver Tweedy, was born April 26, 1912, in Jefferson County and departed this life Monday, Aug. 24, 1970 at the Sunnyslope Extended Care Center in Ottumwa at the age of 58.

On Dec. 6, 1933, she was married to Ralph Edgerly in the Mount Moriah Church. Most of their married life was spent in Van Buren and Davis Counties. They lived three years in Wisconsin.

Remaining to cherish her memory are husband, two sons, the Rev. Veryl Edgerly of Houston, Texas and the Rev. George Edgerly of Des Moines; five grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Metcalf of Burlington and Mrs. Velma Brazille of Tulsa, Okla.; a brother, Ernest Tweedy of Des Moines; other relatives and many friends. Her parents, a sister, Florence, and a granddaughter preceded her in death.

Edith was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God at Floris, of which her husband is pastor.

The recollection of her life of faithfulness and service to her Master and her patient acceptance of lingering illness will forever be an inspiration and source of strength to all who knew her.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 27, 1970 at 2 P.M. at the Mount Moriah Church north of Douds. The Rev. Paul Belger and the Rev. Milton Forges officiated. Musicians were Bro. Donald Williams and Bro. Steven Williams. Pallbearers were Brothers Clifford Miller, Merle Wilson, Lee Carr, George Randolph, Erwin Kelsey, Donald Martin and Wesley Greene. Interment was in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of Pedrick Funeral Home.
