Archie St. Clair

Archie St. Clair, 61, rural Farmington, died Tuesday, Aug. 4 in University Hospital in Iowa City where he had been a patient since July 23. Death resulted from injuries suffered Jun 13 when a gas water heater in his basement exploded while he was lighting it.

He was the son of the late Wayne Winsfield and Mary Belle Stockwell St. Clair, born Dec. 3, 1908, at Harrisburg, Mo. He married Nellie Carter on Nov. 7, 1928, at Montrose.

He married Anna Jean Burke on April 10, 1963, at Kahoka, Mo. She survives. He was a 40-year resident of Lee County and was employed by the Foote Mineral Co. at Keokuk as an electrician.

Other survivors are four son, DeWayne E. of Farmington, Richard E. of Montrose, and Archie Lee and Donald L. of Keokuk; one daughter, Mrs. Ralph Williams of Fayetteville, N.C.; one stepson, Phillip Burke of Russellville, Ala.; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Richard Vermezen of Rialto, Calif., Mrs. Frank Kramer of Montrose, and Lucy Burke of Farmington; 27 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ben F. Colley and Mrs. Eva Lewis of Harrisburg, Mo.; and one brother, Isaac St. Clair of Harrisburg, Mo.

The funeral service was held Thursday, Aug. 6 at 1:30 p.m. at Schmidt Memorial Home in Keokuk conducted by the Rev. Carl A. Amos. Burial was in the Montrose Cemetery.
