Mrs. Lewis I. Smith, 64, of Farmington, died Saturday, Nov. 22, at 12:20 p.m. in Van Buren County Memorial hospital, Keosauqua, where she was a patient three days.

The former Lewis Miller, she was the daughter of Lewis and Hattie Uppinghouse Miller, born June 14, 1905 at Canton, Mo.

She married Arthur H. Smith in 1923 at Canton, Mo.

She has been a resident of Farmington since 1940 moving there from Milton. She was formerly employed by the W.A. Sheaffer Pen Co., Ft. Madison and was formerly employed as a bookkeeper at the Bowles Furniture Store, Farmington. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Marvin (Betty) Grimm of Craig, Colo.; and four sons, Robert and Gene, both of Farmington, James of Grayslake, Ill., and Herbert J. of Geneseo, Ill. and 11 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The funeral service was held Monday, Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist church with the Rev. Edward Maus officiating. Burial was in Greenglade cemetery, Farmington. Miller's Home for Funerals in Farmington was in charge of arrangements.
