Thomas Wesley Boyer, son of David W. And Marie Frances Boyer, was born July 26, 1836, near Nashport, Ohio, and died Feb. 21, 1924, at the age of 87 years. When he was 18 years of age his parents moved to Iowa and the remainder of his life was spent in or near Bonaparte. He was a graduate of the Denmark Academy and of the Keokuk Medical College. For many years he practiced medicine in Bonaparte and served his country in the capacity of surgeon during the Civil War.
On May 1, 1865, he was married to Nancy Ann Meek. To this union were born three children. In 1871 he entered the mercantile business in Bonaparte and continued in this until 1909 when owing to ill health he retired.
He is survived by the widow and three children: Mrs. Georgia Meek and Harry Boyer of Bonaparte; Mrs. Florence Bradshaw of Chicago; one grandchild, Mrs. Helen Parker, also of Chicago; and three brothers: Lewis N. of South Dakota; Oliver of Oklahoma; and Alvin of Farmington.
