Bert Morrison

Bert W. Morrison, 80, longtime resident of Jefferson and Van Buren counties, died Saturday afternoon at his home, 3 1/2 miles southwest of Fairfield.

He was born Aug. 11, 1888, in Van Buren County, the son of Emmett and Susanna Holland Morrison. She preceded him in death. He later married Mae Bell Trow on Nov. 23, 1908. She died Nov. 12, 1959. On May 10, 1961, he married Bertha Walker Morrison.

He had lived in Fairfield 23 years. He was a barber in Stockport for 25 years and was a member of Libertyville Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, Roger W. of Fairfield, Rex T. of Rockaway, N.J., and Major Richard Morrison of McDill AFB, Tampa, Fla.; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three step-sons, E. Walker Morrison of Santa Ana, Calif., Lt. Col. Robert Morrison of Forbes AFB, Topeka, Kans., and Edgars Morrison of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Claude Shelton of Dixon, Ill, and Mrs. D.J. Agee of Boulder, Colo.; 10 step grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; and two sisters, Lucy Blackburn of Selma and Minnie Dodds of Bonaparte.

Services were Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Libertyville Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry D. Gilmore officiating. Burial was at Fell Cemetery at Libertyville. Weston Behner Funeral Home, Fairfield, was in charge of arrangements.
