Fred Nelson

Fred W. Nelson, 86, route 3, Fairfield, died Thursday evening, Nov. 28 at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, where he entered early that morning.

Funeral services were held at the Birmingham Methodist church Monday at 1:30 P.M. in charge of the Rev. Glen Lochhead and the Rev. Dwight C. Bonham with burial in Maple Hill cemetery. Arrangements were by Burch Funeral Home, Birmingham.

Nelson was born Nov. 16, 1882 at Rock Island, Ill., the son of Charles A. and Sophia Johnson Nelson. He was married Jan. 14, 1911 in Fairfield to Myrtle E. Hill, who survives.

He also leaves two grandchildren, four brothers, Roy of Hayfield, Minn.; Arthur of Ankeny; Ed and Albert of Fairfield and four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Applequist, Rochester, Minn.; Mrs. Mabel Sodergren, Dixon, Ill.; Mrs. Willard Thompson, Inglewood, Calif., and Mrs. Gladys Mozena, Marion. He was preceded in death by two sons.
