Dale Ware

Dale V. "Duke" Ware, 89, of Farmington, died at 8:25 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua.

Born Sept. 29, 1908, in Farmington, he was the son of Philip K. and Lillian Vernon Ware. On Dec. 27, 1935, he married Helen S. Shelburg in Kansas City, Mo.

Mr. Ware was owner of the Farmington Lumber Co. for 40 years, owner of Industries Co. of Farmington and manufactured Ranch gates.

He was a member of Farmington Methodist Church and past member of Van Buren County Hospital board. He helped plan the Indian Lake Park when the state gave it to the city. He enjoyed ranching and raising cattle and horses.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Philip K. Ware of Scotsdale, Ariz., and Stephen F Ware of Findley, Ohio; one daughter, Susan Keller of St. Charles, Mo., five grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one grandson. There will be no visitation. The body has been cremated.

The memorial for Mr. Ware will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hofbauer Funeral Home in Farmington with the Revs. Marilyn Ware, Robert Hambright and Bill Jenkins officiating. Burial of the cremains will be in Farmington Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to the Farmington Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts and Indian Lake Park.
