Ottumwa, Iowa, Wednesday, August 3, 1977

MILDRED BURKETT

KEOSAUQUA - Mrs. Mildred Burkett, 65, of rural Keosauqua, died today at 8 a.m. at Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, where she was admitted seven weeks ago.

She was born April 22, 1912, at Olds to Clark and Amelia Nichalaus Zickefoose. The family moved in 1927 to the Milton community, and she graduated in 1929 from Milton High School. She attended Iowa Wesleyan College and taught in rural schools of Van Buren and Henry counties.

On Dec. 31, 1931, she married Fred Burkett at Macomb, Ill., and they have farmed in the Keosauqua community.

She was a member of the Keosauqua Christian Church and the Christian Women's Fellowship, and had taught Bible and Sunday school classes for many years. She had served as president of the Keosauqua Parent-Teacher Association.

Surviving are her widower; one daughter, Annette Wade of Opelousas, La.; six sons, Delmar of Austin, Tex., Larry of Fort Dodge, James of Everett, Wash., Doyl of Seattle, Wash., Mike of Moscow, Idaho, and Lyle of Muscatine; 12 grandchildren; five sisters, Wanda Trueblood of Salem, Emmelyn Poffinbarger of Davenport, Opal Trueblood of Seaside, Ore., Wilma Barton of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Jeannette Schlatter of Mount Pleasant; and one brother, Orval Zickefoose of Camdenton, Mo.

The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Keosauqua Christian Church, with the Rev. Charles Fudenski officiating. Burial will be in Fellows Cemetery.

The body is at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.
