Ottumwa, Iowa, Monday, June 13, 1977

RALPH CANADAY

KEOSAUQUA - Ralph R. Canaday, 59, of Keosauqua, died Friday at Veterans Administration Hospital in Des Moines.

He was born Oct. 5, 1917 in Van Buren County to Albert and Dulcia Giere (Gire) Canaday. He married Bernice Wright on April 27, 1946. She died in 1949. In 1950, he married Alvastine Sotton.

He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the Amerian Legion and VFW posts in Keosauqua.

Survivors include his wife; daughters Mrs. Judy McCarthy of Colorado Spring, Col., Mrs. Donnal Wilcoxson of Moravia and Marcia of Keosauqua; sons Bill of Fairfield and Bob and Mike of Keosauqua; step-children Nancy Franklin and Richard King, both of Keosauqua, and Sue Ann Fischer of Fairfield; brothers Ernest, Fred and Caroll, all of Birmingham; sister Mrs. Esther Beswick of Stockport; 6 grandchildren, 17 step-grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Birmingham United Methodist Church, the Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, with military rites by Beer-Barker American Legion Post 113 of Keosauqua.

Visitation is at the Burch Funeral Home.
