ISABEL NICHOLS

KEOSAUQUA - Mrs. Isabel Stotsberry Nichols, 83, of Escondido, Calif., died there Thursday at 12:15 a.m. She was a former Keosauquan.

She was born May 9, 1894, in a cabin near the current location of Lacey-Keosauqua State Park. She taught in Van Buren County rural schools until her retirement in 1955.

In 1958 she joined her daughter and family in southern California, and had lived in Escondido since 1964.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Lucille Wagner of Valley Center, Calif.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Pittsburg, Iowa, Cemetery, with the Rev. Harold Schnedler officiating.

The body will arrive Saturday evening at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua. The family will be at the funeral home Monday evening.
