Speer Rites On Tuesday

Services for Robert Speer, 54, 406 South D, will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Ed Dorman officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Speer died at 9:35 a.m. Saturday at the Jefferson County Hospital after an illness during the past year.

Robert Speer was born April 1, 1924, in Fairfield, the son of Floyd A. and Rachel Helphrey Speer. He was reared and educated in Fairfield, graduating from the Fairfield High School with the class of 1942.

After being a resident of Portland, Oregon, for 25 years, he returned to Fairfield a year ago. He attended Corvallis College, he was a member of the First Christian Church and Elks Lodge of Portland. He was an accountant until his retirement.

In addition to his mother, Speer is survived by three sisters: Wilma Groh, Sioux City; Barbara Keller, Birmingham; and Verna Shannon, Birmingham; two brothers, Berle, Boulder, Colo.; and Don, Marion; 12 nieces and nephews.

His father preceded him in death Dec. 31, 1973.
