Clare T. Muir

KEOSAUQUA - Clare T. Muir, 76, died at 6:45 p.m. Friday at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital. He had entered the hospital Friday morning.

The son of Ralph and Jennie Sample Muir, he was born July 21, 1899, near Lebanon and lived his life in the Lebanon community until moving to Keosauqua in April, 1975.

On March 24, 1923, he married Edna Wollam in Ottumwa. She survives. Also surviving are a son, Gary, and a daughter, Karyl Chambers, both of Keosauqua; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a brother, LeMar, of Keosauqua.

He built the Lebanon store building in 1923 and oeprated the store until 1946. He also operated a lime and rock truck until his retirement.

He was an active member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church, having served in numerous church offices.

The service will be Monday at 3 p.m. at the Lebanon United United Methodist Strauch officiating. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery.

A memorial has been established for his church. The Pedrick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
