Miss Louisa Hardy was born in Van Buren County, Iowa near Pierceville, March 19, 1840. She was married to Benjamin Rigsby in Keosauaua, Oct. 18, 1866.
Four children were born to them. Two sons and two daughters. One son and one daughter preceded their mother to their eternal home, the other two, a married son and a daughter remain at the old home. One grandson, three sisters and three brothers remain to mourn their loss.
About 20 years ago, Mrs. Rigsby united with the Methodist church in Vernon in which she has ever since retained her membership.
About five years ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis, the effects of which never entirely left her. In early life she was a school teacher, having taught in this county during the war of the rebellion.
Her death occurred very suddenly and unexpectedly in the early morning of August 2, [no year stated] with no one present except her daughter who has been living with her and caring for her for a number of years.
The funeral service was held in the Methodist church in Vernon Aug. 3, [no year stated], conducted by Rev. W.G. Thorn of Keosauqua. A large congregation was present. Her body was laid in the cemetery near the village.
I am not realted; this Obit. is in an old family scrapbook; submitted to those who might have an interest.
