C. LESTER BOOTH

Chauncey Lester Booth was born in Bonaparte, August 9, 1887 an died at his home in South Bend, Ind., on June 26, 1974. He was the oldest of the four children of George A. and Elizabeth Moore Booth and a descendant of the pioneer James A. Brown and George L. Moore families of Bentonsport and the George Allender family of Vernon. A cousin, Brown Moore, Jr., is the only relative now living in this community.

Following graduation from Bonaparte High School, he attended Iowa State College at Ames and then was employed by the former Hart-Parr Co., Charles City, Iowa. When this company was taken over by the Oliver Farm Equipment Co., he was transferred to the parent plant at South Bend where he served as a time study and cost accountant until his retirment in 1952. His wife the former Bessie Stelle of Charles City preceeded him in death.

Survivors are an unmarried son, Melvin L., who lived at home, a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Shinnick, Fort Wayne, Ind., and two brothers, Paul S., Walnut Creek, Calif., and George A. Jr. (Dick), Des Moines. Burial was at South Bend.
