Mrs. Iva M. Hewitt

Mrs. Iva M. Hewitt, 78, Selma, widow of Allen Thurman Hewitt, died Saturday evening at the Jefferson Square Manor in Ottumwa where she resided.

Services were held Tuesday, Jan. 30 at 10:30 a.m., at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with the Rev. Earl D. Kelly officiating. Interment was in the Leando Cemetery.

The daughter of John and Byrnina Leach Haney, Mrs. Hewitt was born Oct. 5, 1894, near Selma. On Feb. 24, 1915, she was married to Mr. Hewitt who died in 1955.

A son, Stanley and a brother and a sister also preceded her in death.

Most of her life was spent in Van Buren and Wapello Counties. She lived several years in Clinton and also in Phoenix, Ariz.

She was baptized on March 14, 1926 in the First Baptist Church of Ottumwa and also attended the Free Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
