Roy C. Stump

Roy Clinton Stump, son of Perry C. and Alice Sawvel Stump, was born December 14, 1903, and departed this life September 22, 1972, at 12:25 a.m. at the Van Buren Memorial Hospital at the age of 68 years. On July 26, 1933, he was married to Esther Duffield.

In earlier years he taught in rural schools in the area a total of thirteen years, and later devoted full time to dairying and farming. He was a 4-H leader in the Birmingham and Douds area for several years.

Preceding him in death were his parents and an infant brother. Left to mourn are his widow; a son, James and daughter-in-law- Karen; three grandchildren, Duff, Sarah and Danny, all of Elgin, Ill. Also surviving are an aunt, several cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday, September 24, 1972, at 2 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Gerald Caughron officiating. Vocalists were Mrs. Keith A. Smith and Mrs. Robert Pedrick, accompanied by Mrs. Max Caves. Pall bearers were William Woodrow, Joe Greenfield, Harold Mathias, Larry Taylor, Roy Lewis, John Williams, Lloyd Williams and Dale Kerr. Interment was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Douds.
