Dora D. Hanshaw

Mrs. Dora D. Hanshaw, daughter of George and Kate Taylor Gilbert, was born February 8, 1888, at Kilbourne and departed this life Friday August 11, 1972, at the Moore Nursing Home in Stockport, at the age of 84.

Her early live was spent in the Kilbourne community. On November 14, 1908, she was married to Emmett Hanshaw. They lived their married life in the Douds community.

Mr. Hanshaw passed away in 1968. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a great-grandson, five brothers and three sisters.

Remaining to cherish her memory are her daughters, Mrs. Zona Reneker of Douds, two grandchildren, Mrs. Betty Thorn and Gary Reneker, four great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Julia Sodergren of Kilbourne, other relatives and many friends.

Dora's principal interests in life were her home and family and to these she was very devoted.

Funeral services were held Monday August 14, 1972 at 1:30 P.M. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Earl D. Kelly, United Methodist pastor officiating. Vocalists were Mrs. Keith A. Smith and Mrs. Robert Pedrick. Kathleen Pedrick was the organist. Pall bearers were John Bell, Hubert Gilbert, Forrest Hanshaw, Noble Plowman, Ellis Barker and Marvin Roush. Interment was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery near Douds.
